Board Forward is a six-month leadership development experience designed to strengthen the partnership between nonprofit Executive Directors and Board Chairs.
Offered in collaboration with the York County Community Foundation (YCCF) and the York County Nonprofit Collaborative, Board Forward equips nonprofit leadership teams with the tools, strategies, and relationships needed to build stronger governance and more resilient organizations.
Unlike a traditional workshop series, Board Forward is an applied learning experience. Leadership teams will engage in facilitated discussions, peer collaboration, and dedicated work time to implement meaningful improvements within their own organizations.

Throughout the six-month program, leadership teams will:
Develop a shared roadmap for governance and leadership alignment.
Strengthen and modernize board policies and governance practices.
Establish clear succession planning and onboarding strategies.
Improve board meeting effectiveness and strategic focus.
Earn a Board Forward certification demonstrating a commitment to strong governance.
Join a network of nonprofit leaders committed to strengthening York County's nonprofit sector.
Board Forward is designed for York County nonprofit organizations committed to strengthening board governance and organizational leadership.
Each organization participates as a leadership team consisting of their Executive Director and Board Chair.
Eligible Board Chairs include those who are incoming, newly appointed, or who have at least two years remaining in their term.
Duration: Six months (May through October)
Format: In-person cohort experience
Cohort Size: Up to eight nonprofit leadership teams
Tuition: $1,000 per leadership team
