Carolyn Warman
Executive Director
Carolyn has worked in various nonprofit organizations in York County since 1978. For fourteen years she taught parenting classes and worked to develop and grow various programs for new parents at Family-Child Resources. She oversaw child care resource and referral services at Child Care Consultants, Inc. before joining Leadership York in 2000.
Community Leadership: Carolyn has served on numerous committees and boards starting in her teen years. Her leadership roles have included The Junior League of York (Treasurer, various committee chairs & President), Focus On Our Future (Advisory Board & Committee Chair), St. John's Episcopal Church (vestry, Nominating Chair and Senior Warden), Child Abuse Council of York County (founding member & President), and the Rotary Club. She currently serves on the board of Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania and the York Federal Fellows Advisory Council. She also chairs the United Way Partner Agency Executive Directors meetings. Carolyn is the winner of the Community Leadership Association’s 2008 Preceptor Award. Preceptor Award winners are recognized for their outstanding communication skills, creativity, trusteeship, strong principles and dedication to the concept of strengthening and transforming communities.
Education: Carolyn holds a B. A. degree from Gettysburg College and graduated from the Leadership Training Program in 1985. She completed Board Source's consultant training on effective governance and Harvard Business School's Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management course.
Other Activities: In her free time, Carolyn enjoys bird-watching, singing, knitting, and babysitting her granddaughter, Lili.
Kristine Marino
FLY Program Coordinator
Kristine Marino became Leadership York's FLY Program Coordinator in June of 2007. She holds a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction degree from Loyola College. Kris was an 8th grade English teacher at York Suburban Middle School for several years and has facilitated student activities and programs such as the York Suburban PRIDE (anti-bullying) program. Kris is a 2007 graduate of the Leadership Training Program and volunteers with York Suburban Communities That Care, Junior Achievement, EYC Blackhawks Association, and Champions Training Center Parent Association.
Cindy Hoke
Administrative Coordinator
Cindy Hoke joined Leadership York in July of 2007. She has a BA degree from York College and Master of Education credits in Training and Development from Penn State University as well as a Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate. Cindy was a Training Specialist at Honeywell International for 15 years and brings facilitation and team building experience to the position. She is a founding member and trustee for Appalachian Air Canines, a local dog Frisbee club.
Bonnie Lepson
FLY Program Assistant
Bonnie became Leadership York's Future Leaders Program Assistant in 2007. Bonnie has a Masters of Science degree from West Virginia University and has been a substitute teacher for Red Lion Area and Central York School districts for many years. She also has been a YAIAA Field Hockey Official for 18 years and has served on the following boards: Dallastown Area School District, York County High School, and Dallastown Communities That Care. Other community activities include York County Junior Miss and Future Leaders of York mentorship program.

Sharon Christ, Ed. D.
Program Coordinator, Leadership For Diverse Schools
Sharon joined the staff team at Leadership York in July, 2011. She has a Doctorate degree in Adult Education from Penn State York. She also holds the position of Director of Enrollment Management at Penn State University. Sharon has served in a variety of volunteer roles at Leadership York since her graduation from the Leadership Training Program in 1987. Roles have included chairing several committees including the Leadership for Diverse Schools committee and serving as Board of Directors President from 2010 to 2011.
Judy Swierzewski
Program Coordinator, Leadership Training Class
Judy joined the staff team at Leadership York in August, 2011. She has a Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum Design from Penn State University and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR). She will continue her consulting practice, providing strategic planning, executive coaching, leadership development and other services to local organizations. Judy most recently was Territory Manager with the American Red Cross – South Central PA, and prior to that was a trainer and performance consultant for several pharmaceutical companies. Judy has served on Leadership York’s Board Development Committee for several years.
JJ Sheffer
Alumni Relations Coordinator
JJ Sheffer joined Leadership York in May 2012. She has worked in York's nonprofit community for 15 years, and brings with her extensive program, communications, and fund development experience. Her past community involvement has included affiliations with the Martin Library Honors Committee (an endowment-building initiative), the Women's Giving Circle of York County Community Foundation, and Planned Parenthood of Central PA Advocates, as well as seven years on the board of York Young Professionals (two as president), and she has been a member of the steering committee for YorIT, a giving circle of York County Community Foundation, since its inception. She is one of three panelists featured during the FLY Program's Youth Philanthropy Day, and has served as a FLY mentor.
JJ has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn State University, and was a member of the first Mentorship York class. She is president of New Muse Entertainment, a company that provides special event design, planning, implementation, and evaluation services in the greater York area. She also does freelance writing, primarily for music-related blogs and publications.
